What’s happening?

Young’s Bus Service, a long-standing transport operator in Central Queensland, has officially rebranded as CDC Queensland under the ownership of ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia (CDC).

The rebrand includes consolidating the Young’s Bus Service and Rothery’s Coaches websites into a single digital platform, the new-look CDC Queensland website.

This transition aligns with CDC’s broader strategy of uniting its operations under one cohesive brand across its Australian regions.

Anna Tyben, General Manager of CDC Queensland, emphasised the significance of the rebrand: “This rebrand reflects our ongoing commitment to the Central Queensland community and our dedication to delivering top-quality transport services.”

Why it matters?

The rebranding marks a significant milestone in CDC’s efforts to unify its services, strengthen its presence in regional Queensland, and deliver a seamless experience for customers.

Tony Hopkins, CEO of CDC Regional Australia Division, highlighted:
“This initiative is a key part of our strategy and reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering safe, sustainable transport for the communities we service, while reinforcing our commitment to investing in regional Queensland.”

Local Impact

For Central Queensland, this transition enhances digital accessibility and simplifies customer engagement. The rebrand reflects CDC’s investment in regional growth and the enhancement of public transport services.

Anna Tyben noted:
“The consolidation of the Young’s Bus Service and Rothery’s Coaches websites into the one user-friendly CDC Queensland platform is an exciting part of this process. Our customers will enjoy seamless access to school bus timetables, urban routes, and charter services—all in one place.”

By the Numbers:

  • Young’s Bus Service and Rothery’s Coaches collectively operate a fleet of 90 buses across Rockhampton, Gladstone, and Yeppoon, providing 500 daily services.
  • The Sunshine Coast region, serviced by CDC, operates 130 buses delivering over 300 daily services, making it the largest school bus operator in the area.
  • CDC’s rollout of the new branding includes 50% of Young’s Bus Service vehicles updated this year, with the remainder to follow in 2025.

Zoom In

Young’s Bus Service has been an integral part of Central Queensland’s transport network since its establishment in 1949. Acquired by CDC in 2021, it has been a cornerstone of local connectivity.

Similarly, Rothery’s Coaches, operating since 1977 and acquired in 2022, continues to support regional transportation needs.

Despite the transition, Rothery’s Coaches will retain its iconic livery, preserving its legacy while aligning operationally under CDC Queensland.

Zoom Out

The rebranding of Young’s Bus Service to CDC Queensland is part of a national strategy by CDC, following similar initiatives in Canberra, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory.

CDC employs over 5,700 people and operates a fleet of 12,000 vehicles nationwide, serving communities across metro and regional Australia with school, urban, and charter transport services.

What to Look for Next?

The updated CDC Queensland website is live, providing streamlined access to bus services.

Over the coming months, customers can expect the gradual rollout of CDC’s bright orange and blue branding across the Young’s Bus Service fleet, with the full rebranding to be completed by 2025.

Anna Tyben expressed her excitement about the changes ahead: “This is an exciting chapter in our growth, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community under the new CDC Queensland banner.”
