What’s happening?
Applications have opened for Stanwell Power Station’s 2026 Community Partnership Fund across the Rockhampton region.
The fund will support community-led projects that strengthen local areas and leave a lasting benefit for residents.
Eligible projects must come from registered not-for-profit organisations and be in the final stages of planning. They must also create an enduring legacy for the region.
Why it matters?
The fund gives local organisations financial support to complete projects that respond directly to community needs.
Stanwell General Manager Central Generation Angie Zahra said the program reflected the company’s long-term commitment to the region.
“The whole purpose of the Community Partnership Fund is to back local organisations to deliver projects that matter most to their communities that can improve the liveability of our region,” Ms Zahra said. “Local organisations know their communities best, and this fund is designed to help turn those ideas into projects that will benefit people for years to come.”
Local Impact
Last year’s funding supported practical improvements at community halls, schools and recreational facilities throughout the region.
Stanwell Hall received security upgrades, while Wycarbah Hall and Sports Association installed solar panels and a hot water system.
Stanwell State School P&C secured support for commemorative landscaping ahead of the school’s 150th anniversary. The project aimed to encourage school pride and provide more outdoor learning opportunities.
Several community groups also improved lighting, ventilation and access at their halls. Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club purchased infrastructure and improved safety on the Whipsnake and Cactus trails.
“Last year, we proudly supported a number of community groups to upgrade lighting, ventilation and access at their halls,” Ms Zahra said. “Stanwell State School P&C received funding to carry out commemorative landscaping ahead of its 150th anniversary, while Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club was able to purchase new infrastructure and improve trail safety on the Whipsnake and Cactus trails.”

Projects can address one or more of the fund’s investment priorities, depending on their purpose and likely community benefit.
Sustainable community projects can improve environmental outcomes through practical sustainability work, awareness programs and responsible stewardship.
Connected community projects should strengthen participation and inclusion by creating opportunities for people to meet and take part. Healthy community projects can support the physical, mental and social wellbeing of local residents.
Resilient community projects should build long-term economic and social strength. This can include education, leadership development and capacity-building activities.
“If your organisation has an idea that’s ready to move forward but just needs some funding support to get it off the ground, we’d love to hear from you,” Ms Zahra said.

Stanwell supplies electricity to the National Electricity Market and provides energy services to major users along Australia’s eastern seaboard.
The company has maintained continuous operations for more than 40 years. Its assets include the Tarong power stations near Kingaroy and Stanwell Power Station near Rockhampton. Stanwell describes these facilities as two of Australia’s most efficient and reliable coal-fired power stations.
The company is also applying its community and energy experience to renewable energy and storage projects across Queensland.
What To Look For Next?
Applications will remain open until Sunday, 30 August 2026, giving eligible groups time to finalise their submissions.
