What’s Happening?
Resource Recovery Australia (RRA) is celebrating National Recycling Week with two major events on Saturday, 16 November: The celebration will take place at the Lakes Creek Road Waste Management Facility.
The Reviva Ibis Reuse Shop will host a community fair with family-friendly craft activities and a live auction beginning at 10:00 am, featuring unique items like a Paul Reed Smith guitar and a vintage epergne.
The Tinkerage, a hands-on workshop space, will also open its doors, offering practical workshops on repurposing, repair, and sustainable skills.
RRA Site Manager Kahli Pearson expressed her excitement for the auction, saying, “We’ve amassed an incredible array of items for this auction, and we’re excited to see these treasures find new homes in the community.
It’s a chance to celebrate sustainability by choosing pre-loved items, with proceeds helping local people facing barriers to work find employment.”
Why It Matters
This event promotes sustainability and waste reduction by encouraging the reuse of goods and teaching practical skills.
The Tinkerage offers a unique resource for locals to learn techniques that contribute to environmental conservation.
