What’s happening?
Rockhampton landmarks will light purple and blue from 2–8 February 2025 as part of Feeding Tube Awareness Week (FTAW).
The campaign, coordinated by ausEE Inc., sees more than 120 landmarks throughout Australia and New Zealand light up in support of promoting awareness of tube feeding.
Rockhampton will join other Queensland cities such as Brisbane, Townsville, and Toowoomba in demonstrating their support for patients who are dependent on this important medical treatment.
Why it matters?
Tube feeding, or enteral nutrition, delivers life-sustaining nutrition to patients who cannot eat or drink sufficiently because of medical conditions like eosinophilic diseases.
ausEE Inc. CEO Sarah Gray said, “Feeding Tube Awareness Week seeks to build community support and awareness regarding tube feeding and the effects on individuals, carers, and families.”
Awareness assists in dismantling stigma and ensures increased community understanding of the issues faced by patients who depend on feeding tubes.
Local Impact
Rockhampton residents are invited to go to light-up landmarks, take photos, and post them on social media using hashtags such as #FTAWLightUp, #FTAW2025, and #TubieTuesday.
The light-up campaign creates solidarity with people and families who have feeding tubes, creating a sense of belonging and support in the local community.

By the Numbers
- More than 120 sites across Australia and New Zealand, such as Rockhampton landmarks, will be involved in the light-up campaign.
- ausEE Inc., established in 2009, still holds the forefront of advocacy and awareness regarding tube feeding and eosinophilic disease.
- Numerous patients with eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) are dependent on tube feeding or on specialized formulas to obtain the nutrients they require.
Zoom In
Rockhampton‘s involvement in the #FTAWLightUp campaign indicates the city‘s dedication to raising awareness and building understanding.
“Purple is a typical colour of feeding tube equipment, and blue is what goes through the tube, whether it‘s blended foods, breastmilk, formula, or water,” explained Sarah Gray.
People can also track #MyTubie stories and #SpecialistSpotlight profiles throughout the week for individual perspectives on life with a feeding tube.
Zoom Out
Outside Rockhampton, towns and cities throughout Australia and New Zealand are coming on board, showing national solidarity. Feeding Tube Awareness Week is just one part of ausEE‘s overall goal to promote the interests of people with eosinophilic diseases and to raise awareness of tube feeding.
