What’s Happening?

The Rockhampton Region will benefit from six new road and community infrastructure projects under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.

The projects will involve road sealing, rehabilitation, kerb and channel upgrades, and new footpath construction in Rockhampton City, Norman Gardens, Kabra, and Marmor.

Why It Matters?

The upgrades aim to improve pedestrian safety, road conditions, and connectivity while supporting local jobs and businesses.

The projects also address infrastructure needs in growing urban areas and enhance accessibility in rural regions, fostering a safer and more connected community.

Local Impact

Mayor Tony Williams described the LRCI Program as an essential partnership between Federal and Local Government, enabling safer, upgraded roads and improved infrastructure for the Rockhampton Region.

“These projects are vital to regional areas, not only investing in local infrastructure that makes our communities safer and more accessible but also supporting local jobs and local business,” he said.

Infrastructure Councillor Marika Taylor added, “Each project will have lasting benefits for our rapidly growing region, and I look forward to seeing the projects come to fruition over the coming months.”
