What’s Happening?

The Queensland Government is accepting applications for its 2027 Celebrating Reconciliation Grants Program, supporting community-led events during National Reconciliation Week.

The funding round opened on 2 November 2026, with organisations invited to submit proposals for activities that promote reconciliation. Applications close on 18 December 2026.

Why It Matters

National Reconciliation Week encourages Australians to reflect on their shared history and take meaningful action towards reconciliation.

The grants support this aim by encouraging respect, inclusion and stronger relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Queenslanders.

Local Impact

The funding opportunity is available to eligible organisations throughout Queensland, provided their proposed events are delivered within the state.

Applicants must also be based in Queensland and meet the program’s eligibility requirements.

By The Numbers

  • $100,000: Total funding available for reconciliation activities across Queensland.
  • $2,500: Grant amount available per organisation.
  • 27 May to 3 June 2027: National Reconciliation Week, when supported events and activities will take place.

Zoom In

The program allows organisations to seek funding for several types of activities, including yarning circles, community gatherings, storytelling events and workshops.

Other community-based initiatives may also be eligible, provided they align with the program’s reconciliation objectives.

Zoom Out

National Reconciliation Week takes place between two significant milestones in Australian history.

The opening date marks the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum, while the final day is Mabo Day, commemorating the landmark 1992 High Court Mabo decision.

These milestones form the historical backdrop to the annual observance.

What To Look For Next?

Organisations interested in participating can access the full eligibility criteria and application instructions through the Queensland Government.
