The Rockhampton Region is gearing up for a spectacular celebration of achievement and community spirit with the much-anticipated 2024 Australia Day Awards.

This annual event is the perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on the exceptional individuals and organisations that have been working tirelessly to enhance our beloved region.

So, if you know someone who deserves recognition, here’s your chance to nominate them for a prestigious award that truly honours their remarkable contributions.

Recognising Extraordinary Contributions

The Australia Day Awards offer a wide array of categories that cover various aspects of community life, ensuring that all kinds of contributions are acknowledged. Here are some of the categories you can nominate someone for:

Citizen of the Year: Celebrating those who have made a significant and enduring impact on the betterment of the Rockhampton Region or have shown exceptional dedication to the local community.

Young Citizen of the Year: Recognising the outstanding efforts of young individuals (aged 27 or younger as of 26 January 2024) in improving the Rockhampton Region or providing exemplary service to the community.

Community Service Award: Recognising individuals who have significantly contributed to the community by fostering social interaction and involvement in community groups, charitable organisations, or similar initiatives.

Cultural Award: Honouring those who have made remarkable contributions to the cultural life of the community or achieved excellence in arts and cultural activities.

Sportsperson of the Year: Recognising athletes with an outstanding record of achievement in the field of sports over the past 12 months.

Sports Official of the Year: Acknowledging individuals who have excelled in their roles within clubs, organisations, or committees, serving in executive positions.

Community Initiative: Highlighting the impact of individuals, informal groups, or formal organisations that have significantly enhanced the well-being and liveability of the Rockhampton Region through projects, activities, or events in the past year.

Nominations for these prestigious awards will close at midnight on Sunday, 7th January 2024, so be sure to put forward the deserving candidates who have made our region a better place.
