What’s Happening?

Galactic Donuts Rockhampton is showing its support for Do It For Dolly Day this Friday, 9 May, with the return of its beloved limited-edition Dolly Donuts. This initiative aims to raise funds and awareness for Dolly’s Dream, a national anti-bullying organisation created in memory of Amy “Dolly” Everett.

Two specially-themed donuts will be on offer: both covered in white chocolate ganache and decorated in blue—Dolly’s favourite colour. One features an edible butterfly topper and is unfilled; the other includes a Bavarian custard filling with the official Do It For Dolly Day 2025 logo on an edible topper.

Why It Matters

Dolly’s story moved the nation. At just 14 years old, she took her life after enduring relentless cyberbullying. The foundation set up in her name now leads critical programs in schools and online safety education across Australia.

Galactic Donuts Rockhampton owner Kirsty Carvey shared her own experience with bullying, making this cause deeply personal:

“Growing up in Central Queensland, I was bullied in my early teens by girls I thought were my friends,” said Kirsty.

“From taunts in the shadows to nasty letters in my letterbox, these girls would humiliate me whenever they could. Thankfully, I had my mum on my side, and there was no internet back then so I could go home from school or sports and be safe knowing that my bullies couldn’t get to me. Today’s young people are accessible 24/7 through social media, which is why the work Dolly’s Dream is doing in schools and parents’ education is so important.”

Local Impact

Since opening in 2022, Galactic Donuts Rockhampton has raised more than $15,500 for Dolly’s Dream through its annual Do It For Dolly Day efforts.

“The generosity of our customers continues to amaze us,” Kirsty said.

“This year, we’re aiming to raise another $7,500—and every donut sold helps us get closer to that goal.”

  • $15,500+ raised by Galactic Donuts Rockhampton since 2022 for Dolly’s Dream.
