What’s Happening?
Frenchville Quality Meats has added another major result to its growing record across meat industry competitions.
At the 2026 Queensland Meat Excellence Awards, judges recognised its Traditional Beef and Salsiccia sausages as Category Champions. Those wins formed part of a wider medal haul covering sausages, burgers and rissoles.
Why It Matters?
The awards attracted a record field from across Queensland, giving the Frenchville team’s result wider industry weight.
For Jesse Elliott, the recognition reflected the care his staff puts into every product. It also rewarded the team’s daily work inside its Rockhampton store.
“We’re absolutely thrilled with the result and incredibly proud of our team,” Jesse said. “To receive six Gold Medals, with two of those products being named Category Champions, is a huge honour. We put a lot of care into what we make, and it’s fantastic to see that recognised at this level.”
Local Impact
The recognition carries particular meaning because the locally owned business remains closely connected to its customers. Frenchville Quality Meats operates from Shop 6/400 Dean Street, Frenchville.
Jesse said support from customers, families and the wider community helped the small team continue its work.
“We want to say a massive thank you to our customers, our families and everyone in Rockhampton and Central Queensland who continues to support us. Every time someone walks through our doors, recommends us to a friend or comes back for their favourite sausages and burgers, they’re supporting our dream and allowing us to keep doing what we love.”

By The Numbers
- Frenchville Quality Meats earned six Gold Medals across its competition entries. Traditional Beef and Salsiccia also secured the two Category Champion titles. Traditional Pork, Toulouse, Hot Honey Chicken and “Just Like Mum’s” Rissoles completed the gold medal result.
- Mediterranean Lamb and the Fair Dinkum lamb burger received two Silver Medals. The Drover lamb burger, Bourbon Bacon Jam and The Chook Deluxe earned three Bronze Medals.
- Judges cooked and assessed more than 565 sausages and burgers across three days. Mantra Surfers Paradise hosted the awards on 12 September 2026.
Zoom In
The achievement recognised staff working behind the counter and elsewhere in the business. Every competition entry came from products prepared inside the Frenchville store.
“Every sausage and burger patty is made in-store by hand, by our small but mighty team,” Jesse said. “Our customers love them, and to have these products recognised at the Queensland awards leaves us feeling incredibly honoured and humbled. We’re really proud to bring these awards home to Rocky.”
Zoom Out
The result follows Frenchville Quality Meats’ success at the Australian Charcuterie Excellence Awards earlier this year. Together, those achievements have strengthened the business’s record across major industry competitions.
However, Jesse said the Queensland awards also gave butchers an opportunity to support their wider trade.
“Seeing butchers from across Queensland come together to celebrate their trade was an important part of the event. We cheered and celebrated with all the other attendees on the night.”
Jesse said cooperation between businesses remained important for maintaining skilled butchers across the state.
“At the end of the day, we need to support each other. Every butcher there that night should be proud of what they’ve achieved and the part they’re playing in keeping our industry alive.
“We all want to see the butcher trade continue to thrive and make sure there are skilled butchers here for many generations to come.”
What To Look For Next?
Frenchville Quality Meats plans to build on the result while continuing to represent Rockhampton and Central Queensland nationally. Meanwhile, the team will keep producing its range for customers at the Frenchville store.
“These awards are something we’re proud to bring home to Rocky, and we’re excited to keep doing what we love and making products our customers can be proud of.”
