Rockhampton Regional Council Opens Doors for Local Initiatives

The Rockhampton Regional Council is thrilled to announce the commencement of round two for the 2023/24 Community Assistance Program (CAP), extending support to not-for-profit organisations gearing up for local projects and events within the Council area. This initiative aims to foster community development and sustainability, leaving a lasting positive impact.

Fueling Local Initiatives

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson expressed enthusiasm, highlighting the program’s success in the previous round. A total of $55,512 was allocated to 20 local organisations, resulting in 24 diverse projects and events. These ranged from sponsoring major sporting events like the 57th National Rodeo Finals to empowering community projects like Narnia Kindergarten’s new desktop computer.

Diverse Funding Opportunities

CAP offers five distinct categories catering to various initiatives: Community Development Grants, Community Facilities Insurance Support, Environmental and Sustainability Grants, Local Community Events Sponsorship, and Regional Community Events Sponsorship. Cr. Wickerson encourages both large and small local organisations to seize this funding opportunity.

Spotlight on Success: Colour Me Capricorn Rockhampton

RACQ CapRescue, a recipient of $5,000 from the program, is gearing up for the upcoming Colour Me Capricorn Rockhampton event. Kim Walters, Communications and Engagement Officer, expressed gratitude, emphasising the positive impact on both community engagement and safety. The event, scheduled for March 24th at Kershaw Gardens, promises a vibrant experience while supporting a crucial cause.

Taking Flight Together

Walters emphasised the importance of community support in keeping their helicopter flying and saving lives. With an annual operating cost exceeding $12 million, community contributions become integral. The Colour Me Capricorn event not only promises a kaleidoscope of memories but also significantly contributes to RACQ CapRescue’s mission.
