Detectives Make Strides Against Offenders
In a focused effort to curb property crime, Rockhampton detectives have made significant headway by arresting 11 individuals linked to 45 property and drug-related offences from April 28 to May 2.
This crackdown highlights the community’s role in assisting law enforcement through vigilant reporting and cooperation.
Public and Police Partnership
Detective Inspector Luke Peachey from Rockhampton CIB emphasised the importance of public involvement in reducing property crime.
He noted, “The public are our eyes and ears in the community and help police to detect, deter, and disrupt property crime through good information they supply, which leads us to make these types of arrests.”
Key incidents during this period include the theft of a Holden Colorado from Kinchant Dam Road on April 25 and a Ford Ranger from Clayton Road on April 2. Both vehicles were recovered swiftly by police, leading to the apprehension of suspects and subsequent charges.
Swift Justice and Ongoing Efforts
Among those charged, a 22-year-old man from Norman Gardens faces multiple charges, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs.
He is scheduled to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 15. Similarly, a 25-year-old man from The Range was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will reappear in court on May 29.
This surge in property crime arrests demonstrates the effectiveness of Rockhampton’s dedicated Property Crime Squad. The collaboration between law enforcement and the community is proving essential in making Rockhampton safer.
Looking Forward
As investigations continue, further arrests are anticipated. Detective Inspector Peachey assured the public of the ongoing commitment to tackle property crime: “We are committed to curbing property crime in our community and will continue to pursue anyone who commits offences.”
The concerted efforts of Rockhampton detectives and the vigilant public underscore a robust partnership crucial to maintaining law and order.
