What’s happening?

Central Queensland students and teachers are being encouraged to join the Together For Humanity (TFH) Queensland and Northern Territory Youth Summit, happening on Thursday, 28 August 2025, at Queensland Parliament House in Brisbane. With the theme ‘Bridging to the Future: Navigating identity and differences together’, the summit invites youth to present real-world solutions for inclusion and diversity.

Why it matters

This summit gives regional students a rare chance to speak directly with decision-makers, develop strategies for inclusion, and build cross-cultural understanding. “Students and teachers of Central Queensland – we need your voices at this important event,” said Annette Schneider, CEO of Together For Humanity. “You’re going to feel heard and connected.”

Local Impact

Schools from Rockhampton and surrounding rural and remote communities are especially encouraged to apply. TFH is offering travel and accommodation support to ensure distance is not a barrier. The initiative helps regional students amplify their experiences and perspectives on the national stage.

By the Numbers

  • TFH programs have reached over 500,000 young Australians since 2002.

  • Queensland schools from public, Catholic, and independent Muslim sectors joined the 2024 national summit.

  • Summit participants will present to politicians and leaders, including past attendees like Governor-General Sam Mostyn AC and Minister Jason Clare.

Zoom In

At the summit, students will propose initiatives addressing diversity and inclusion challenges in their schools and communities. They’ll collaborate across regions, sharing experiences and forming actionable ideas.

Zoom Out

TFH is a national educational not-for-profit working with schools to reduce racism and build intercultural understanding. Their summits and school-based programs are backed by the Australian Government Department of Education under the Connected Youth and Communities initiative.

What to look for next?
