What’s happening?

Applications are now open for the 2026 Clarke Creek Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund.

Local community organisations are invited to apply for funding through the program delivered by Squadron Energy.

The fund supports community projects and initiatives located within 50 kilometres of the 450 megawatt Clarke Creek Wind Farm.

Applications opened on Monday, 12 January.

Why it matters

The fund provides practical support for community groups delivering local projects and services.

It focuses on backing initiatives that improve facilities, safety, and shared spaces in regional communities.

Local impact

In 2025, eight organisations were successful in receiving funding through the program.

The Marlborough District Campdraft Association used its funding to upgrade its arena, creating an improved space for local equestrian events.

This marked the association’s second grant received through the fund.

“A huge thank you to Squadron Energy for their large contribution to our arena upgrade at The Marlborough Campdraft Grounds,” the committee said.

“The committee and competitors are very impressed. The upgrades have fostered a safer and improved environment for cattle, horses, riders and spectators alike.”

Other successful applicants included the Marlborough Rural Fire Brigade, Marlborough Public Hall Committee, Marlborough and District Lions Club, Clarke Creek Campdraft Association, and the Clarke Creek State Schools P&C Association.

The Marlborough Rural Fire Brigade purchased new firefighting equipment.

The Marlborough and District Lions Club installed solar panels on its clubhouse.

The Clarke Creek State Schools P&C Association received funding for a shelter for sporting spectators.

The Clarke Creek and Clermont branches of the Isolated Children’s and Parents’ Association were also supported for separate projects.

The Clarke Creek branch hosted “20 Years Strong: Empowering Futures, Building Skills” events.

The Clermont branch used its funding to support its annual sports camp.
