What’s Happening?

CS Energy employees recently welcomed family members behind the scenes at Callide Power Station as part of the 2026 Callide Power Station Family Day.

General Manager Malcolm Bambling hosted the event to recognise employees and contractors for their contribution to the station’s improved performance over the past year. The event also thanked their families for supporting the workforce.

The family day included lunch and children’s activities at Queensland Heritage Park, along with bus tours of the power station.

Why It Matters

Mr Bambling said the Callide team contributed to CS Energy’s performance during the financial year.

“In FY2026, CS Energy achieved all of its Electricity Maintenance Guarantee targets, and part of that success can be attributed to the team at Callide,” Mr Bambling said.

He also highlighted the role families play when power station work requires employees to spend extended periods away from home.

“Keeping a power station running can sometimes mean long hours away from home, particularly during overhauls.

“A supportive family makes all the difference in helping our people show up to work fit and ready to do their jobs.”

Local Impact

CS Energy Chair Tony Bellas travelled to Biloela for the family day, where he spent time with the Callide team and their families.

The event gave family members an opportunity to see the power station and learn more about the electricity generation process through organised bus tours.

By The Numbers

  • 2026 marked the year of the latest Callide Power Station Family Day.
  • Late October is when upcoming summer readiness works are due to begin at the station.
  • Two generating units, Callide B1 and B2, will undergo planned outages as part of the upcoming works.

Zoom In

CS Energy timed the family day ahead of planned summer readiness works on the Callide B generating units.

The planned outages will involve maintenance on precipitators and air heaters. Crews will also work on other critical equipment as part of preparations for the summer peak demand period.

The work will cover both Callide Units B1 and B2.

Zoom Out

The family day recognised the contribution of employees and contractors following improved performance at Callide Power Station over the past year.

It also connected employees’ work at the station with the support they receive from their families, particularly during periods involving longer working hours.

The event combined this recognition with an opportunity for families to see how the electricity generation process operates.

What To Look For Next?

Summer readiness works on the two Callide B generating units will start in late October.

The planned outages will include maintenance on precipitators, air heaters and other critical equipment. CS Energy said the work will prepare the units for the summer peak demand period.
