What’s happening?
The Caves Progress and Agricultural Society is hosting its 38th annual Caves Agricultural Show on Saturday, 26 April 2025, at The Caves Showgrounds. This year’s event is especially meaningful as it also celebrates 50 years since the founding of the Society, a milestone honouring community spirit, agricultural pride, and volunteer commitment.
The full-day program kicks off at 6:00 AM for competitors and opens to the public from 8:00 AM, running until late.
Why it matters
This year’s show isn’t just a calendar event—it’s a celebration of five decades of rural resilience, volunteerism, and local culture. At a time when small agricultural shows face growing challenges such as rising costs, stricter regulations, and a shrinking volunteer base, this milestone underlines the importance of continued community support.
“We are incredibly proud to be celebrating 50 years as a society and 38 years of our annual show,” said Charles Borg, President of The Caves Progress and Agricultural Society. “We want to make sure the show remains an event that everyone can enjoy, however, the reality is that without more community support, events like ours are becoming harder to sustain. We encourage locals to get involved, whether through volunteering, sponsorship, or simply attending the show, every bit of involvement makes a difference.”
Local Impact
The show is a longstanding staple in the Central Queensland event calendar, drawing families, farmers, competitors, and entertainers together in one vibrant community celebration. Local schools, businesses, and volunteer groups contribute significantly to the day, making it a true reflection of The Caves and its surrounding region.
